FFK was delighted to host its annual charity golf tournament on 4 July at the prestigious Royal Blackheath Golf Club in Eltham.
We are enormously grateful to our lead tournament sponsor, CME Group; to gold sponsors ADMISI and ION; silver sponsor StoneX; and bronze sponsors Barclays, FIA and KRM22 for their generous support in helping us raise funds for the charities that Futures for Kids supports. Proceeds from the golf day help to ensure that these charities can continue their work to improve the lives of children and young people in the UK and overseas.
While US markets closed to celebrate Independence Day, a corner of southeast London played host to eleven teams competing for the coveted Bob Ray Memorial Trophy.
After breakfast, which was kindly sponsored by ION, forty-four golfers set off for a shotgun start at 8.30am. We were incredibly lucky with the weather which remained sunny and dry all day, with just enough of a breeze to keep our players on their toes!
In addition to the Team and Individual Competitions, players battled it out to pick up prizes for the Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive challenges.
Thanks to the generosity of ADMISI, the mobile refreshment cart provided players with drinks and snacks on the course throughout the morning.
Following a barbecue lunch for players and guests, generously sponsored by CME Group, attention turned to the all-important prize-giving.
In a close-run competition, only 2 points separated the top three teams.
With a winning score of 92 points, the ADM team triumphed with Ben Probert, Ryan Easterbrook, Steven Trigg, and Drew Beauchamp collecting the Bob Ray Memorial Trophy for 2024.
Coming a close second with 91 points was the CME team while third place went to the FIA team with a score of 90 points.
We had a tie in the individual player competition with both Clive Leicester (CME team) and Sarah Willis (FIA team) scoring 40 points.
The winner on countback, with a back 9 of 21 points, was Clive Leicester who picked up the Individual Winner’s trophy and a shiny new 2-ball putter.
Sarah took home a well-deserved bottle of champagne by way of a consolation prize.
Winners of the three competition holes were as follows:
Nearest the Pin at Hole 8, sponsored by ADMISI: Geoff Shakespear (ION team)
Longest Drive at Hole 13, sponsored by ION: Ben Bowler (ION team)
Nearest the Pin at Hole 16, sponsored by StoneX: Dan Carter (KRM22 team)
Congratulations to all our prize winners and many thanks to our sponsors and everyone who took part.
We look forward to seeing you next year!
